What requirements are more suitable for choosing our rattan weaving products?

1. Core Advantages of Huaiyuan Rattan

Excellent toughness, crack and break resistant

Sourced from 3–5 year-old wild alpine green rattan, the material features dense fibers and superior elasticity.

It withstands frequent bending without breaking, and resists cracking or deformation even after decades of use.

Fine texture, warm luster, and aging beautifully

It presents a natural pale yellow tone with soft original gloss.

With long-term use, the surface forms a smooth, delicate patina that enhances its texture over time, looking elegant even without varnish coating.

High density, strong load-bearing and breathable comfort

Local Huaiyuan rattan boasts solid structural toughness, enabling tight, elastic and stable weaving.

The finished furniture is warm in winter and cool in summer, sweat-resistant and fatigue-free for long-hour sitting.

Purely natural, formaldehyde-free and health-safe

Made of 100% natural raw materials, processed through more than ten physical procedures including boiling, fumigation and natural sun drying.

Zero chemical additives are used, making it safe for the elderly and children.

Perfect for intangible heritage fine craftsmanship with high artistic value

It adapts perfectly to intricate traditional weaving techniques, supporting complex patterns such as nine-chrysanthemum and string flower, as well as elegant S-shaped and M-shaped curves.

Each piece is vivid and exquisite, possessing unique artistic appreciation and collection value.

2. Inherent Disadvantages of Huaiyuan Rattan

Low yield and low material utilization rate

Wild Huaiyuan rattan resources are limited. Only 30% of dried rattan can be refined from fresh raw materials, and merely one-third of each rattan strip is qualified for weaving seat and back panels, leading to high production costs.

Uneven thickness and natural knots

As a naturally grown wild material, it is less uniform than artificially cultivated rattan.

More time and manual work are required for strict material selection and precise processing.

Higher price and unstable supply

Raw material collection is difficult and labor-intensive, requiring mountain climbing and field work.

With fewer professional collectors, high-quality Huaiyuan rattan is in short supply, and its market price rises year by year.

3. Pros & Cons of Rattan Materials from Other Origins

3.1 Indonesian / Vietnamese Rattan (Most common for low-cost mass production)

Advantages

Long, straight, uniform and knot-free texture, with sufficient output and low cost.

Suitable for mechanical processing and large-scale standardized furniture production.

Disadvantages

Soft texture with poor toughness and weak load-bearing capacity. Prone to deformation and sagging, becoming loose and worn after 2–3 years of use.

It has dull gloss, no patina formation, and poor air permeability.

3.2 Ordinary Mixed Rattan (Other domestic mountain rattan)

Advantages

More affordable than Huaiyuan rattan, with better toughness than Indonesian and Vietnamese rattan.

Disadvantages

Unstable thickness, obvious color difference and high cracking risk.

The rough texture only supports simple flat weaving, unable to realize fine complex patterns, with mediocre overall durability.

3.3 Plastic Imitation Rattan (Low-end synthetic material)

Advantages

Low cost, mothproof, mildew-proof, and weather-resistant under sun and rain exposure.

Disadvantages

Zero air permeability, featuring cold texture in winter and hot stuffy feeling in summer with obvious plastic odor.

It ages and fractures easily due to thermal expansion and contraction, with no natural texture, craftsmanship or collection value at all.
